Life begins at Colten Care . . . With activities for all
The prospect of moving into a Care Home may lead you to believe that you have to give up an independent and socially active life, but nothing could be further from the truth. We at Colten Care offer many and varied activities to enrich and fulfil each day ranging from knitting to a ride on the London Eye.
Each Home employs an Activity Organiser who creates a tailor-made programme of activities and events that varies from month to month. When arranging the activities, the needs of individual residents in the Homes are taken into consideration.
Exercise classes, quizzes, yoga, memory box, live entertainments, bridge, coffee mornings, skittles, quoits, art and crafts, crosswords...the list is boundless and endless. We also welcome the visiting library, the Clergy and guest speakers.
At least once a year we have a themed event in each Home such as a cultural weekend when the food, drink, dress and entertainment from other countries can be enjoyed.
We have mini-coaches with drivers who provide cover seven days a week, visiting many places of interest e.g. National Trust Houses, trips to the coast, or to sporting events. During the trips out our residents' safety is of paramount importance and each Activity Organiser is a fully trained Registered First Aider.
We have recently developed a 'something for everyone' activity approach to include the frailest of our residents. With this in mind, we now also have a full time Social Carer in each Home in addition to the Activity Organiser. They carry out activities seven days a week which complements those undertaken by the Activity Organiser and their hours are flexible so that on occasions they may work in the evening to meet individual needs. Although there is a weekly Social Care Plan, the activities are flexible and vary for each resident.
