Our buying team ensure that our homes and staff have the latest equipment so that our residents feel comfortable and safe. Our Finance team ensures that we manage our budgets as efficiently as possible and reinvest in the business. IT helps us to streamline our business processes and improve communications across all our homes. The HR team supports recruitment, induction, career development, staff benefits and training. And it’s the marketing team which enables us to promote Colten Care as both the South Coast provider and employer of choice.
It’s the way in which we combine our nursing and care teams together with our business support teams that enables us to deliver excellence in care.
What skills will I learn in a Business Support function?
This will depend upon which team you join, but here are some examples:
As part of our Buying team you will learn strong negotiation, relationship management and planning skills.
For IT you will learn about helpdesk support, network management, business reporting, and software and data security.
In HR, you will learn interviewing and selection skills, learning and coaching skills and how to increase staff engagement with the business.
As part of marketing you will learn about marketing media including press, radio and TV; digital online media; internal communications and Public Relations.
What do I need to work in a Business Support function?
You will usually need a graduate level qualification which is relevant to the business support function that you are interested in. In some cases we may also consider positions for Advanced Apprenticeships.
You will also need to demonstrate strong customer service skills, excellent communication and numeracy skills and share our goal of delivering outstanding care to our residents, their families and our visitors. Finally you will identify strongly with our Company Values of being: Friendly, Kind, Individual, Reassuring and Honest.
