Colten Care to be headline sponsor of Taste of Dorset awards
November 25, 2011
COLTEN Care is to become the headline sponsor of the highly successful Taste of Dorset food awards.
The family owned company operates 18 quality care and dementia homes across 3 counties including 10 in Dorset.
Colten Care has agreed to be the Taste of Dorset’s major sponsor for at least the next two years.
The deal was signed by Ian Hudson, Managing Director, and Mark Aitchison, Finance Director, at a ceremony at Colten Care’s latest home, Newstone House in Sturminster Newton.

Mr Hudson described Colten Care’s association with Taste of Dorset as “the perfect fit.”
He said: “We consider ourselves to be ‘best of class’ when it comes to providing quality care home services.
“By the same token, Taste of Dorset is all about recognising individuals, businesses and organisations involved in local food production, who are also best in their particular class.”
Mr Hudson added that Colten Care had a vested interest in promoting Dorset food produce.
“The quality of food we provide in our homes is very important. Each home has a head chef and kitchen staff and, wherever possible we source local ingredients and suppliers,” he said.
“We pride ourselves on providing meals and service which are akin to a five star hotel.
“Encouraging excellence in Dorset’s food and drink businesses can only have a beneficial spin-off for Colten Care,” Mr Hudson added.
The 2011 Taste of Dorset awards were the fourth to be organised by Blackmore Vale Media (BVM), publishers of the Blackmore Vale Magazine and the Stour & Avon Magazine.
A record number of more than 6,000 entries were received for the 18 categories with the overall standard described as very high.
Fanny Charles, BVM’s Editor, said: “We are absolutely delighted about our new partnership with Colten Care. The company’s commitment to the care of residents is well-known, and their concern for the quality of the food they serve is amazing.
“Gaining a headline sponsor is a huge boost to the status of the awards. We think that Colten Care and the Taste of Dorset should prove a real recipe for success.”
