Dedicated specialist dementia home to create 80 new jobs
November 25, 2011
EIGHTY new jobs will be created when Winchester’s first dedicated specialist dementia care home opens next spring.
Work is now well advanced on the 56-bed Colten Care home which is on the former Stanmore Hotel site on Stanmore Lane.
The home, called St Catherine’s View, is the 19th to be opened by Lymington-based Colten Care and will cost £7 million.

The family-owned company also operates Abbots Barton in Worthy Road, Winchester, as well as 17 other quality care and dementia homes in Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire.
The three-storey St Catherine’s View has been specially designed and built to care for people living with dementia, incorporating the latest technology and care techniques.
Ian Hudson, Managing Director, said: “As with all our homes, the emphasis at St Catherine’s View will be on providing the highest quality of care in surroundings which have been likened to a five star hotel.
“The home, which is being built by our sister company Colten Developments, will bring much needed quality dementia care provision to the area. We regard St Catherine’s View as a flagship development for Colten Care.”
Founded in 1989, Colten Care employs 1,300 people and has an annual turnover in excess of £35 million.
