‘Trophy’ £8.5 million care home to create up to 100 new jobs
November 28, 2011
A LYMINGTON company is to build its largest care home to date in the town at a cost of £8.5 million.

The dedicated dementia care home will be the 20th to be opened by Colten Care and is on the site of the former Linden House residential home in New Street.
The family owned company already operates three care homes in Lymington (Monmouth House, Court Lodge and Belmore Lodge).
Demolition of the former Linden House will shortly get underway with building work due to start by sister company Colten Developments early next year.
Between 80 and 100 new jobs will be created when the 60-bed care home opens in early summer 2013.
Ian Hudson, Managing Director, said: “This will be a trophy development for Colten Care and, at 4,000 square metres, our largest home to date.
“We have worked closely with local planners to create a highly attractive scheme which will combine the highest standards of care with the latest technology and building techniques.”
Founded in 1989, Colten Care is based in Western Road, Lymington, and currently operates 18 quality care and dementia homes in Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire.
The company offers a range of services spanning residential care to nursing care and dementia and employs 1,300 people with an annual turnover in excess of £35 million.
Work is currently underway on its 19th home, a 56-bed specialist dementia care home in Winchester costing £7 million. St Catherine’s View will open next spring creating 80 new jobs.
