Burns Night marked at Colten Care’s Canford Chase home

January 26, 2012

THE swirl of the bagpipes filled Colten Care’s Canford Chase home in Poole as residents and staff celebrated Burns Night.

Former RAF Pipe Major Brian Peters paraded through the residential and nursing home before performing the traditional address to the haggis in the dining room.

Residents then tucked into a meal of haggis, tatties and neeps to mark the birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Angie Stewart, Matron and Manager, said the annual event had become a firm favourite with residents.

“We’ve held it for several years and it always proves popular with residents from both north and south of the border,” she added.

Scottish swirl: Canford Chase resident Audrey Hayden, 79, watches as piper Brian Peters parades through the Canford Chase dining room.               THE swirl of the bagpipes filled Colten Care’s Canford Chase home in Poole as residents and staff celebrated Burns Night.
