February 10, 2012
RESIDENTS and staff at a Lymington care home have bade a fond farewell to their popular matron and manager.
Karen Maidment has retired from Colten Care’s Belmore Lodge in Milford Road after a 48-year career in the care and nursing sector.
She has been manager of the 55-bed Belmore Lodge since it first opened nine years ago and has also worked at Colten Care’s Woodpeckers home in Brockenhurst and Court Lodge in Lymington.
Karen who is married with four children, said: “Like any job it has had its highs and lows but overall I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in caring and nursing. I’ll miss the people tremendously.”
She added: “I’m looking forward to putting my feet up and spending more time with my family. One of my daughters is getting married later this year so I’ll be able to help with plans for the wedding.”
A special party was laid on for Karen attended by residents and their families as well as past and present colleagues.
Elizabeth Benson, Operations Manager, said: “Karen has been an extremely popular member of the Colten Care team who is held in high esteem and affection by residents and staff alike. We all wish her a very long, happy and healthy retirement.”
Among the retirement gifts received by Karen were a garden bench and matching necklace and bracelet.
