Street mural marking Diamond Jubilee unveiled by Colten

May 31, 2012

PATRIOTIC bosses at a Lymington company have unveiled their own street mural to mark The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The mural, measuring 10ft x 20ft, is now being seen by thousands of motorists every day on one of the town's main arterial routes.

The Colten Group commissioned urban artist JXC to paint the mural which includes the royal coat of arms.

It took him five days and 20 cans of paint to come up with the finished article which is mounted on four 10ft x 5ft panels.

The mural has the message: 'Colten congratulates Her Majesty The Queen on her Diamond Jubilee. Long may she reign over us.'

Director Rick Otten said: "It's a real eye-catcher and we've already had a lot of comments from people saying how much they like it."

He added: "It's a small gesture but our way of offering HM The Queen many congratulations on her Diamond Jubilee."

The mural is on the corner of Southampton Road and Avenue Road. It is likely to remain in place for about a week after the Diamond Jubilee holiday.

The Colten Group comprises Colten Care, the South's leading care home provider, and property developer, Colten Developments, and is based in Western Road, Lymington.
