Colten Care homes play starring role in food awards
June 20, 2012
COLTEN Care's newest homes have played a starring role in two of the South of England's most prestigious foods awards.
The family-owned company is acting as headline sponsor for this year's Taste of Dorset and Hampshire Food & Drink awards.
Newstone House in Sturminster Newton was chosen as the venue for the launch of the annual Taste of Dorset contest.
More than 70 people, including organisers, previous winners and sponsors, attended the event at the home which welcomed its first residents last November.
Meanwhile Colten Care's St Catherines View played host to judges involved in the 2012 Hampshire Food & Drink Awards.
The specialist dementia care home was officially opened last month (May) and is Colten Care’s 19th home. It is the third to specialise in dedicated dementia care.
Ian Hudson, Managing Director, said Colten Care had a vested interest in promoting food excellence through competitions such as Taste of Dorset and the Hampshire Food & Drink Awards.
He added: “The quality of food we provide in our homes is very important. Each home has its own head chef, kitchen staff and waiter/waitress service with meals tailored to the individual needs of our residents. Wherever possible we source local ingredients and suppliers
“We pride ourselves on providing meals and service which are akin to a five star hotel.
“Encouraging excellence in the South's food and drink businesses can only have a beneficial spin-off for Colten Care and we're very pleased to support these two prestigious competitions,” Mr Hudson added.
