  • Home Manager - Jo Ellis

    Jo EllisJo Ellis was educated locally and initially worked for a London Publishing company following a degree in English Language and Literature. In 1984 Jo came to live in Sherborne and trained as a Registered General Nurse at Yeovil District Hospital where she worked on the Orthopaedic Unit for sixteen years. Jo has been associated with Abbey View since 1999 and was appointed Matron in February 2005. She completed the Registered Managers Award in 2006. Jo is married with four children and enjoys music, reading, cooking and gardening.

  • Head of Care - Carmen Vegara

    Carman Vegara

    Carmen has worked at Abbey View for six years as a part-time RGN prior to becoming Head of Care in 2010. Carmen qualified as an RGN in the Philippines in 1985.  She worked on Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units in both the Philippines and the Middle East for five and eleven years respectively, before coming to England in 2001.  Carmen has worked on the orthopaedic ward at Yeovil District Hospital for ten years. Carmen is married with three sons and enjoys her working life!

  • Head of Care - Priscilla Dickens

    Priscilla Dickens Head of Care Abbey ViewPriscilla joined Colten Care as an RGN at Abbey View in 2006 prior to becoming Head of Care in September 2010.  She has many years of experience, including working as a school nurse at a local prep school.  She qualified at St George’s Hospital in London in 1973.  In her spare time Priscilla plays competitive golf (handicap 25), gardening and walking and enjoys time with her family and grandchildren.

  • Receptionist - Judy Ward

    Judy WardJudy joined Abbey View in 1999. Judy enjoys this interesting work and particularly the interaction with the residents. She also takes pleasure in helping to support Matron in her administrative responsibilities. Judy has a number of hobbies including looking after her dogs and Western films.

  • Receptionist - Helen Bramble

    Helen Bramble Receptionist Abbey ViewBefore she was married, Helen worked for a national company in Sales and Marketing. After her children had left home, she spent many years caring for people in their own homes. Helen joined Abbey View as a part-time receptionist after a two year association with the Home whilst her mother was a resident. Helen enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

  • Receptionist - Emma Gale

    Emma Gale Receptionist Abbey ViewEmma joined Abbey View in 2007 as a part-time kitchen domestic whilst studying at Bournemouth University.  She joined the reception team in 2009 and works one day a week and provides holiday cover.  Emma has a degree in Graphic Design and in her free time she enjoys skiing.

  • Activities Organiser - Rebecca Marsh

    Becky has worked at Abbey View as a Health Care Assistant since 1998. After a short break to care for her elderly mother she returned in 2009 as a Social Carer and was appointed Activities Organiser in December 2010.  Becky thoroughly enjoys her new role, aiming to provide a varied and interesting range of activities.  Her hobbies include reading, crosswords, travel and socializing.

  • Chef - Emanuel De Azevedo

    Emanuel De AzevedoEmanuel started working for Colten Care at Abbey View Care Home in April 2005 as a waiter.  After a few months working there he was offered the opportunity to enrol for an NVQ in General Hospitality which he very happily completed.  He then developed an interest in cooking and enrolled at Weymouth Catering College to study in NVQ level 2 Professional Cookery. On completion of his NVQ Level 2 Emanuel was awarded Catering Student of the Year 2008.  In 2009 he was funded by Colten Care and completed his NVQ Level 3 at Weymouth College.  On completion of his Chef training he was employed as a Relief Chef which offered him the opportunity to work in other Colten Care Homes.  In June 2010 he was offered a full time post as resident Chef at Abbey View.

  • Chef - Heather Gould

    Heather GouldHeather began her catering training as a Chef in a local Restaurant in Sherborne where she worked for many years. Heather took a short break to raise her family and then went back into catering when she bought the Country Fair Restaurant in Yeovil, she also had the catering rights at Brymton d’Evercey Stately Home for 10 years. Heather joined Colten Care as Chef at Abbey View in 1997. When time allows Heather and her Husband enjoys spending time on their narrow boat working the canals.
