Shirley trained at Bournemouth University as a Registered Mental Health Nurse qualifying in 2003. Shirley has over 30 years experience of working with people with dementia, and spent 6 years working as a Home Manager where she obtained her Registered Managers award in 2006.

She is a qualified mentor for student nurses in placement and a member of the New Forest branch of the Alzheimer’s Committee. In her spare time Shirley enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and her dogs.

Shani joined Fernhill in 2012 having previously worked at one of our sister homes as P/Time Receptionist/Administrator. Prior to joining Colten Care Shani worked for an independent financial adviser for over 20 years and more recently a volunteer for Age.uk assisting in local day centres for the elderly. In her spare time Shani loves spending time with her young nephews who enjoy steam trains. She is also a member of a knit and natter group knitting for charity.

Having worked in the care home industry for the past 3 years Matt brings with him a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. He is very creative, artistic and thrives on the wonderful responses he receives from the residents during activities. Matt feels this is the most rewarding job in the world. In his spare time he is a singer in an alternative pop band and also enjoys spending time working with vintage items, as well as photography / cinema.

Linda Paine began her catering career at Ealing Technical College where she gained her 706/1& 2 City & Guilds catering qualifications. Linda has had a varied career in catering having worked in Nursing Homes, Schools, Hospitals and Hotels. Linda joined Colten Care in 2006 and since then has been based at Avon Reach, Kingfishers prior to joining Fernhill.
