Kingfishers is situated in New Milton only a few miles from both the beautiful New Forest and the cliff top and beach at Barton-On-Sea. The home offers a variety of care options including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care.

Welcome:

Kingfishers offers 60 beautifully appointed single bedrooms all of which have en-suite facilities, flat screen televisions with freeview, private telephones and internet availability as standard. The spacious reception area creates a welcoming atmosphere with views looking out through the dining room glass doors, into the garden. The main lounge also offers access to the beautifully landscaped garden which has several covered areas to ensure the garden can be enjoyed throughout the year. There are comfortably furnished lounges on each floor where residents can relax and chat with family and friends. The activity room is well equipped with computers and internet access for residents use as well as offering a wide range of activities to suit personal preferences and varying abilities.

The Lyndhurst suite accommodates residents with varying degrees of memory loss or dementia.  The layout and surroundings of this suite are professionally  designed to help residents with memory loss orientate themselves whilst as far as possible retaining a degree of independence in a secure and welcoming environment.

  • Home Manager - Rebecca Hannam

    Rebecca holds a diploma in healthcare management and has significant experience working in the care home industry. Most recently Rebecca was employed as Operations Manager for a charity running catholic care homes. Her emphasis is on managing the business, operational and staffing aspects of the care home and she is supported clinically by the Head of Care. Rebecca has a sound understanding of healthcare provision in care homes and is actively involved in ensuring high standards of care and overall resident satisfaction is achieved at all times. Rebecca lives locally with her husband and enjoys the leisure opportunities provided by the Solent and the New Forest.

  • Head of Care - Barbara Harris

    Barbara takes responsibility for the Clinical Management of Kingfishers.  She has worked at Kingfishers since it opened in 2009 as a night Registered Nurse, and was promoted to Head of Care in October 2012.   Barbara holds a certificate in Teaching and Assessing and takes a lead role in mentoring student nurses who come on placement to Kingfishers.  Barbara lives locally in New Milton with her family and enjoys walking her dog on the cliff top at Barton on Sea.

  • Head of Dementia Care - Anne Sellars

    Anne is an experienced registered general and mental nurse with over 20 years experience in Dementia Care. Anne has worked in managerial posts within local nursing homes including Berkshire and Merseyside. She lives locally with her partner and in her spare time she collects and makes teddy bears and enjoys creative writing.

  • Receptionist/Administrator - Lisa Jones

    Lisa is experienced in Customer Service and Administrative duties having worked within Somerset County Council Community Directorate where she assisted in providing Day Services for Adults with Learning Disabilities. She has also spent many years working as an Activity Organiser. Lisa moved to Hampshire in 2011, her spare time is spent playing Golf, walking and reading.

  • Receptionist - Tanya Ruzheva

    Tanya works at weekends on the Reception Desk and during the week you will see her in a different uniform as a Senior Healthcare Assistant.  Tanya is originally from Bulgaria but now her and her family live in Barton on Sea and enjoy South Coast living.

  • Activity Organiser - Carlie Nicholas

    Carlie left university in 2009 having gained a BA honours in Illustration. After working as a Healthcare Assistant in the community for a while she realised how much she loved working with people and making a difference. Carlie is now using her creative skills to provide stimulating activities for our residents living with dementia. In Carlie’s spare time she loves to take part in craft fairs and enjoys weaving, felting, model making and painting.

  • Activity Organiser - Val Herbert

    Prior to joining Kingfishers in April 2013 Val was an Activity Organiser in another local care home.  Val is passionate about delivering varied and stimulating activities to our residents and worked between the residential, nursing and dementia suites to provide activities tailored accordingly to the residents.  Val lives in the Bournemouth area having relocated recently from Oxfordshire and is enjoying living by the seaside!


  • Chef - Rob Davies

    Rob has been a chef for 10 years but this is his first role in a nursing home and he is enjoying building relationships with the residents at Kingfishers.  Rob lives in the heart of the New Forest  and enjoys walking and cycling, making the most of the outdoors on his days off. Rob is also a retained fire fighter which keeps him busy when not creating fantastic meals for our residents.

  • Chef - Martin Cox

    Prior to joining Kingfishers Martin was the Head Chef at a local leisure and holiday centre.  Martin is enjoying the different work environment and getting to know the residents at Kingfishers and has a good understanding of dietary requirements in the older population.  Martin lives locally in New Milton and enjoys spending time out in the outdoors and sunshine.
