A Trip To Antarctica
Two students from the prestigious Sherborne Girls’ School, Charlotte and Philippa, came to give a fascinating presentation to the residents of Abbey View on their trip to Antarctica.
They shared their amazing travel experiences, including stunning photographs of the places they visited, their encounters with local people, penguins, whales, and fish of the region. To enhance the experience, we took the residents on an in-house “flight travel then boarding a ship” called The South Pole Express, giving them a chance to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime journey to a place they have never visited before.
The twin girls talked about their adventures, including dipping into the very cold water while whales were swimming nearby. We imagined experiencing their first-class accommodations through their lovely photos. To make the activity even more exciting, Kim reached out to some locally owned shops in Sherborne to ask for samples of their wares for a duty-free experience. Four outlets – The Abbey Pharmacy, Margaret Balfour Beauty, Hair by Robin James, and Naturalife Wholefoods Health – generously supported her request, allowing us to offer the Duty-Free trolley to other residents who are unable to leave their rooms easily for activities.
The twin girls were incredible and clearly enjoyed their adventure. They kindly opened the floor to questions, which then became one-to-ones. Bev’s fantastic costume idea was also a hit, raising smiles and a few laughs.
Overall, it was a lovely activity that everyone enjoyed!
