National Poetry Day

We have some budding Poet Laureates in the home who have written amazing poems! 

Lots of our residents have fun attending a weekly poetry group called Abbey Wordsmiths – a name chosen by them; they really enjoy writing poetry as a group or individually. The poems are then typed up and put into a lovely album which lives in the downstairs lounge and is available for all to see.

To celebrate National Poetry Day this week, we also invited Shirley Fry – our Bible Study Group volunteer – to read some of her beautifully written poems. Shirley has a long association with Abbey View as her late mother was a resident here.
