Sherborne Christmas Tree Festival
“Churches Together” in Sherborne initiated a wonderful project whereby businesses and/or individuals can sponsor a Christmas Tree and have fun decorating with their own personalised ideas.
All the proceeds go towards “Sherborne Food Bank” which happens to be our chosen charity this year, as well as “Christians against poverty”, both worthy causes. Trees were generously donated by Castle Gardens Nursery. Having sponsored our Abbey View Tree, residents Marie, Barbara, Jane, Edna, and Janet bundled up warm on a chilly day and excitedly embarked the minibus for a jaunt down to the beautiful Cheap Street Church. Companion Sara created beautiful snow globes with photographs of residents and staff. Each snow globe also proudly showcased the Colten Care logo. Companion Kia made a beautiful framed Christmas message, to place at the base of the tree. Customer Service Adviser Emma Phillips accompanied Nick our driver with Kia, Bev, and the residents, and we were warmly greeted and welcomed into the church where our tree was the very first in the foyer! We all had great fun and it felt good to be part of something that would help others during this season. There were loads of giggles with the residents’ recognising photographs of other residents on the tree, wearing Christmas hats! From the 3rd of December to 11th December, the Christmas Tree Festival is open to the public with daily choirs and events. We hope that our personalised tree will bring a smile and joy to the many visitors in our little ancient abbey town presently, as well as the local community visiting Sherborne Cheap Street Church at this time.
