World Bee Day

World Bee Day was celebrated at Abbey View with a presentation by siblings Todd and Jazzmyn Jex, whose mother is our very own Companion Kim Jex.

Residents were fascinated to learn about the world of bees through a visual PowerPoint presentation and to see items used in hives, as well as a bee suit. When it came to tasting the honey, produced by Todd and Jazz in their family-owned honey business, the residents savoured every bit. Two residents shared stories about having hives on their properties as children and expressed their love of bees.

Resident Pippa Noyes vividly remembered the six beehives on her childhood property, where her grandfather became well known as the top beekeeper. She also recalled that her grandfather, Arthur Lucas, wrote numerous books about bees, and as children, Pippa and her sisters learned a great deal on the subject.

Overall, we had a bee-eautiful afternoon!
