Abbotts Barton Hosts Community Craft Fair in Support of Winchester Hospice

Abbotts Barton opened its doors to the community on Saturday 14th June for a summer craft fair, raising funds in support of Winchester Hospice.

The event brought together local crafters and artisans, each of whom rented a table to display and sell their handmade goods. Proceeds from the stall fees went directly to the hospice, helping to support its ongoing work in the region.

Residents, family members and visitors from the local area were welcomed into the home and its gardens, where they browsed a wide range of crafts and chatted with the makers. Offerings included free-range eggs and homemade jam from the Boaz Project, as well as handcrafted cards by local artist Emi.

Guests also enjoyed tea and freshly baked cakes, prepared by Abbotts Barton’s chef, while taking advantage of the warm weather in the garden. A charity raffle, featuring a luxury hamper and several smaller prizes, added to the afternoon’s atmosphere, with a crowd gathering for the draw.

Resident Carol Harper commented on the success of the event: “It was such a brilliant afternoon and there was a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed myself – plus my friend came away with a bottle of Prosecco.”

The event was part of Abbotts Barton’s ongoing commitment to building connections with the local community, while offering residents meaningful experiences and opportunities to engage with local causes.
