Abbotts Barton Opens Its Garden Gates for Community Fun and Fundraising

7 August 2025

The sun was shining on Abbotts Barton in Winchester as residents and team members welcomed visitors from the local community for a joyful afternoon in the garden.

Held on Saturday 2nd August, the open garden event was a chance to showcase the home’s vibrant outdoor spaces and connect with neighbours and friends.

Guests were invited to take part in a floral-themed scavenger hunt, which proved popular with visitors of all ages, before enjoying tea and homemade cakes prepared by the home’s kitchen team.

A beautifully curated gardening hamper was awarded to one lucky raffle winner, and the day’s fundraising efforts — including proceeds from the scavenger hunt, raffle tickets, and generous donations — raised over £100 for Winchester Hospice.

Companionship Team Leader Sarah said, “We were so pleased to welcome members of our local community into our garden, which our residents are incredibly proud of.”

“It was a lovely opportunity to come together, enjoy the fresh air and flowers, and support a brilliant cause close to many of our hearts,” she continued.

The team at Abbotts Barton said they were thrilled with the turnout and look forward to more opportunities to open their doors and celebrate community connections.
