Abbotts Barton Summer Fete Raises Around £900 for Winchester Hospice

12 August 2025

Abbotts Barton in Winchester welcomed residents, families, and members of the community on Saturday 9 August for its annual summer fete, raising around £900 for Winchester Hospice.

The event was held in the home’s gardens, with warm weather providing the perfect backdrop. Visitors browsed a variety of stalls, including crafts, books, plants, cakes, and the ever-popular bottle tombola. Children enjoyed traditional games such as hook-a-duck, splat the rat, and the coconut shy.

Live music from Helen and Russ of DuoJoy kept the atmosphere lively, while the home’s chefs served a barbecue alongside a range of refreshments. The traditional raffle once again proved a major draw for guests.

Companion Wendy said, “It’s always a highlight of the year for our residents and a great way to bring the local community together. We’re delighted to have raised such a significant amount for Winchester Hospice.”

The final total raised will be confirmed in the coming days, but organisers say the event was a resounding success both socially and for fundraising.
