Abbotts Barton Residents Support Rotary Shoebox Appeal

Residents and staff at Abbotts Barton care home recently came together to support the Rotary Shoebox Appeal, helping disadvantaged and displaced children around the world.
Inspired by the work of Rotary, a global voluntary organisation dedicated to promoting peace and community support, the team collected a wide range of items including toys, books, colouring pencils, clothing, and personal care essentials such as soap and toothbrushes.
Staff donated generously, and the items were carefully packed into shoeboxes for distribution to children in need. The collection was then handed over to Nick, a local Rotary representative.
Nick expressed his gratitude for the contribution, and Companionship Team Leader Sarah added, “It’s wonderful to see such kindness and support from everyone. These shoeboxes will make a real difference to children who need it most.”
The initiative gave residents the chance to feel part of a meaningful community effort while learning about the impact of charitable giving, reflecting the home’s commitment to fostering connection and compassion.
