Celebrating Sheila’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary

Residents and staff at Abbotts Barton recently joined Sheila in celebrating her diamond wedding anniversary with her husband, John.

The couple marked the occasion with a special lunch at the home, before continuing their celebrations with afternoon tea at nearby Lainston House, surrounded by family and friends.

Sheila and John’s story began in Winchester, where Sheila worked for the Rural District Council and John for a solicitors’ office supporting the council. John would regularly visit Sheila’s office by moped to deliver paperwork, giving them the chance to see one another during the working day.

Their relationship took a memorable turn when John spotted Sheila at a fundraising dance at Winchester Guildhall and asked her for a dance. The moment marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership.

Today, their enduring affection for one another remains clear, with staff and residents at Abbotts Barton delighted to share in such a significant milestone.
