“All About Me” is our philosophy of care where the resident is at the heart of all that we do, helping us to achieve our primary objective of supporting residents to live a comfortable and fulfilling life in our home.
Our care home teams work with residents and their relatives to develop a full care plan for their time with us. Each resident also has a “This is Me, Now and Then” file which is a life history of anything a residents wishes to share.
These cover every aspect of care reflecting the individual needs and preferences of a resident, including medication and any physical therapies, hobbies, diet and other routines that are important in day to day life, as well as any future plans and aspirations they may have.
We encourage a can-do approach to care, with an emphasis on positive risk assessments, working in partnership with residents to enable a fulfilling life.
Our homes offer an enabling environment, for example, we have discreet handrails and easy access to the gardens: residents can get around comfortably, and so feel they have some control over their lives.
For those with limited mobility, or who for other reasons might not want to participate in the community life of the home, our social carers Colten Companions offer companionship and simply have time for a chat.
“Always excellent care for my Mum. The staff are so welcoming and have always gone the extra mile.” – F L, DAUGHTER OF RESIDENT AT AMBERWOOD HOUSE
Living in a supportive environment where residents can continue to live as independently as possible and continuing doing the things they love helps to maintain a sense of purpose that is vital for an older person’s wellbeing and overall health.
Our philosophy ensures residents are treated as individuals, with individual needs, preferences and lifestyle choices support and respected by the whole team.
We want residents’ families and friends to feel welcome at all our homes, as much as they would in a private residence. There are no special visiting hours, and both children and dogs are welcome.
Visitors are welcome to join residents for meal times whenever they wish, by prior arrangement with the chef, and will not be charged if visiting once a week or less. We’re even happy to arrange private dining from time to time if you wish to celebrate a special occasion.
Families can also choose to get involved in the home’s activities programme, and our activity organisers will always be happy to develop those programmes around the talents and interests that friends and family can bring.
