Amberwood House Residents Mark VE Day with Special Community Guests

Residents at Amberwood House Care Home in Ferndown enjoyed a memorable afternoon with special visitors to mark VE Day. The Mayor of Ferndown, Councillor Terry Cordery, and Paul England, Chairman of the Royal British Legion’s Ferndown branch, joined residents for conversation, reminiscence, and tea.
During the visit, residents including Margery Hayes, Edna Stone, and Mary Whitehouse shared their wartime memories and enjoyed a warm welcome from Home Manager Diane Nicholls and the Amberwood House team.
This event was one of several community activities organised at Amberwood House to celebrate the VE Day anniversary, providing opportunities for residents to connect with local figures and reflect on the significance of the day.
Resident Mary commented: “I was so pleased to meet and share a cup of tea with the Mayor. It was lovely to have a chat.”
Home Manager Diane said: “Our residents really appreciated the chance to welcome visitors from the community. Conversations with Paul and the Mayor sparked many shared memories and made the day feel truly special.”
