Amberwood House Hosts Annual Dog Show

Amberwood House in Ferndown welcomed residents, families, staff, and plenty of four-legged friends for its much-loved Annual Dog Show, raising £230 for local charity The Stable Family Home Trust.

The home’s gardens were filled with sunshine and laughter as canine competitors took to the ring to compete in categories including Fanciest Dressed, Best Trick, Best Ball Retriever, and the crowd favourite — the Dog Egg and Spoon Race.

Bertie, dressed as a pirate alongside his owners in matching outfits, took first place in the costume round and proved a firm favourite with spectators.

Judging duties were carried out by Amberwood volunteer Hayden, Clinical Manager Jessica, and resident Peter, who each faced the difficult task of choosing winners from a strong field of enthusiastic pets.

Alongside the show, residents ran a fundraising stall showcasing handmade dog-themed crafts, while chef team Lucas and Bart provided a freshly prepared afternoon tea that proved a hit with guests during a break in the competition.

Home Manager Diane said: “This is one of our favourite events of the year. It brings so much joy to our residents and their families, and it’s a brilliant way of connecting with our local community. The atmosphere was fantastic, and seeing everyone come together while raising money for such a worthy cause made it extra special.”

Every dog went home with a medal, with certificates awarded to first-place winners. Organisers hailed the event a huge success and thanked everyone who supported the day.
