Amberwood House Celebrates Pancake Day with Flipping Fun

19 February 2026

On 17th February, Amberwood House welcomed residents for a joyful Pancake Day celebration filled with learning, laughter, and plenty of delicious treats.

The day began with a brief exploration of Shrove Tuesday, uncovering the history behind the tradition of making pancakes to use up rich ingredients before Lent. This sparked lively discussion and reminiscing about past Pancake Days. Margaret shared a fond memory of flipping pancakes outdoors with her father, Fred, which brought smiles and laughter as everyone pictured the scene.

Although the chilly weather meant a full pancake race around the garden wasn’t possible, Shirley bravely joined Companionship Team Leader Maddee outside to flip pancakes, while others continued the fun indoors, with the occasional pancake landing in unexpected places.

The celebrations concluded with a pancake station, allowing residents to choose their favourite toppings. Lemon and sugar proved to be a firm favourite, and everyone enjoyed the tasty creations.

The Pancake Day at Amberwood House was a heartwarming event, combining tradition, fun, and social connection, leaving residents smiling and well-fed.
