Denim for Dementia Day

Amberwood House recently marked Denim Day for Dementia with a creative and meaningful craft activity.
Residents joined staff in making denim flower badges and pocket squares, which were later sold to staff and members of the local community to raise awareness and support for people living with dementia.
The activity offered residents the chance to engage in a purposeful, hands-on project, combining creativity with contribution to an important cause.
Many residents expressed enjoyment and pride in their work, appreciating the opportunity to participate in something that made a tangible difference.
Staff at Amberwood House also showed their support by dressing in denim or shades of blue, reinforcing the sense of community and shared purpose across the home.

International Bread Week at Amberwood House

This week at Amberwood House, residents and staff celebrated International Bread Week with a hands-on baking experience led by our talented chef, Bart.
Residents Margaret and Marj eagerly joined in, helping to mix, knead, and bake a variety of delicious breads.
The kitchen was filled with laughter, conversation, and the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread. The activity encouraged teamwork, engagement, and a sense of accomplishment for all involved.
To share the joy further, some of the freshly baked bread, along with additional loaves kindly purchased from a local supermarket, was delivered to Ferndown Community Support.

Resident Shirley said it was “wonderful to be in a position to give back and share the fruits of our efforts with the wider community.”
The week was a delightful celebration of skill, collaboration, and generosity, bringing residents together while supporting a valued local charity.
