Coronation Celebrations

9 May 2023

The staff of Amberwood House turned the dining room into a the perfect space to celebrate the celebrations of our new king.

As each resident entered the room, they were given a glass of Pimm’s from our Pimm’s ladder and had a glimpse at our sweet treat cart.

Taking seats with friends and our residents were served a delicious lunch consisting of coronation chicken Bellini’s, quiches, finger sandwiches and much more. With our bellies full and feeling merry it was time for our raffle. Rachel our HCA was feeling lucky, so she was chosen to pick out the raffle ticket, there was a big cheer as Jackie Rouse was picked as the winner of the large coronation hamper.

There was  a second chance at winning a prize, with a rather large bottle of prosecco on offer. All you had to do was score the most points in the Royal quiz. Would you know what Prince Phillip’s nickname was for Queen Elizabeth? With the results in, it was a close call, with Marjorie Hutchings team being crowned winners. When then popped bottle of bubbly and enjoyed a glass whilst Marjorie cut the Coronation cake.

We also had a very special treat from Canford School Choir. During lockdown the school had kept us entertained via zoom, and it was the first time they had come to the home where we finally got to meet them in person.

The staff of Amberwood House were delighted that John Davidson gave a thank you speech that touched all our hearts.

We spent the remainder of our day laughing with family and friends before retiring to our rooms for some much-needed sleep after a great weekend. Long Live the King.
