Let The Festivities begin!

5 December 2023

During lockdown, over 900 squares were knitted by our residents here at Amberwood House and stored safely in our loft area.

In August, we had a chat with our residents in our monthly committee meeting about what we wanted to do with these knitted squares, and there were lots of suggestions about creations ready to sell at Christmas.

We found that we could have a stall at the Ferndown Christmas market and sell everything that we create over the next few months, donating the money to our Charity Ferndown Rotary.

We started work making blankets, bunnies, fingerless gloves, Christmas trees, and scarves. Our project really took off, and soon we had relatives asking to take squares home to stitch together.

Market day came around and we set up our stall with all our lovely handcrafted gifts. It was a cold day, but that was not going to stop our residents as they joined us to man the stall and for a wander around the market.

We had a fabulous day out in the community, talking to visitors and telling them about our creations. We made over £100 for charity, but most of all, we had a fun-filled day.

It has started our festive season off well!
