National Plum Day

There’s a wide range of recipes we could create with plums to mark ‘National Plum Day’, but we opted for a plum and almond traybake.
Margery and Margaret did the slicing, and Pam was our head stirrer. Katie lined the tray, and Pam poured in the syrup before Margery began layering up the plums. We did notice that a couple of slices went missing, and with a cheeky look on her face, we assumed she devoured them! Margaret poured the mixture over the plums, and into the oven it went.
After what seemed to be a long wait, but was in fact only 50 minutes, we sliced the cake up and enjoyed it with a lovely cup of tea. This could just be a new favourite for us here. Margery was offered a job in the kitchen by Head Chef Lucas, but she firmly said her days in front of a hob are long gone.
