This is how we do it

Our waitress, Katy, decided that she would like to learn how to knit, and today was the perfect day to begin the learning process.

The first challenge was a simple knitted square. Katy selected her yarn and knitting needles and sought out willing teachers. Our companions, Nicky and resident Valerie, volunteered for the task. The first lesson focused on casting on. Katy observed and received instructions before attempting it herself. There were numerous laughs and a few frustrations, but she quickly mastered the initial step.

Now, she’s knitting a few stitches, receiving more observations and instructions, and Katy is diligently practicing. Let’s just say, it’s a “to be continued” journey! Nicky and Valerie did such a great job that we are now opening up classes to the rest of the staff.
