You only turn 101 once
Margery celebrated her 101st Birthday recently, surrounded by all her friends at Amberwood House.
Margery is a very kind and loving lady who has touched the hearts of many at Amberwood House, so it was only right that we put together a birthday celebration fit for our much-loved lady. After all you only turn 101 once!!!
The celebrations started at Breakfast where we pimped her rollator with balloons and attached a rather large badge to her birthday shirt. We didn’t want anyone to miss her as she walked around the home. Flowers and cards were delivered throughout the day with lots of hugs from staff and residents. Little did she know that we were also in full swing preparing her birthday bash. We decorated the party room with blue, silver and confetti balloons, banners, and bunting. As the time approached 3pm we gathered ready for her arrival and as she walked through the door, we all burst into song singing her happy birthday, the smile on her face filled the room as she said, “what have I done to deserve such kindness”.
Our chef Jacob had made her a beautiful and rather delicious birthday cake complete with a personalised topper. She was over the moon that such effort had been put into her birthday.
She smiled for photos with all the staff that she says have cared for her so well and shown such kindness before opening gifts and cards from staff and friends.
There were so many cards to open that it was only right that we took a much-needed break and tucked into her birthday cake. Raspberry jam sponge beautifully decorated with a buttercream icing, “perfect” she said, “share it round”.
So many staff, residents and friends joined us throughout the afternoon each greeted with hugs and smiles before she finished her party with a speech. “I would just like to thank you all as it is the best birthday I have ever had, and you really are the kindest bunch I have ever met, it’s marvellous” Margery exclaimed!
