Bill and Betty’s Story at Amberwood House

“It would be quite rare for me to pass comment on a paid service provider, however for Amberwood House I am very pleased to make an exception.

Just before Christmas, our situation changed very suddenly. Mum had a fall and broke her leg and wrist, and with Dad living with dementia, we needed support quickly.

We contacted Amberwood House, and the response was immediate. The Clinical Lead travelled all the way to Luton to assess Mum and Dad’s needs, and within 48 hours they had both moved in for respite care. That made a very difficult time much more manageable for us as a family.

What has stood out since then is the level of care and attention they have both received.

“Every member of staff, from top to bottom, goes the extra mile, always with a smile and time for a chat. It makes a real difference to how supported Mum and Dad feel day to day.

On one occasion when Mum had to go to hospital, Jill from the nursing team, Peter from care, and Maddee, who seems to oversee just about everything, all went above and beyond to make sure Dad was properly looked after while she was away. That gave us real reassurance at what could have been a worrying time.

What started as a short stay has now extended, and they have both become part of the furniture in the best possible way.

They are comfortable, settled, and part of daily life within the home.

The food is amazing, and there is always something going on for residents to take part in. The home is clean, friendly and welcoming, which all adds to the overall feeling of being well looked after.

As a family, we are very grateful for the care and support they have received.”
