Wimbledon Spirit Serves Up Sweet Success at Avon Cliff

Residents at Avon Cliff in Bournemouth brought the spirit of Wimbledon to their own lounge this week with a day of tennis-themed fun, games and classic treats.

The event began with a morning quiz and word games centred around tennis, sparking lively discussion and putting everyone’s sporting knowledge to the test. In the afternoon, residents took to the “court” for a lively match of balloon tennis, which proved both entertaining and energetic.

“It was a great way to get everyone moving and laughing – there were some impressive rallies!” said Companionship Team Leader Elise.

After working up an appetite, residents turned their attention to the kitchen to recreate a Wimbledon staple – strawberries and cream – by assembling individual Eton Mess cups. The hands-on element proved popular, with many commenting on how enjoyable it was to take part in something both creative and seasonal.

The day was part of Avon Cliff’s ongoing programme of events aimed at fostering social engagement and shared experiences among residents.

“It was a great example of how seasonal events can bring people together for fun, connection and a touch of nostalgia – all without leaving home,” said Elise.
