International Tea and Cake Day

International Tea and Cake Day  was celebrated a little differently this year, with residents swapping traditional tea pots and sponge cake for a tasting session of chilled drinks and more unusual flavours. Raspberry and hibiscus iced tea proved especially popular in the warm weather, alongside peach iced tea served over ice. Opinions on the matcha latte were rather more divided.

The cakes prompted plenty of discussion around the table, with slices of mango cheesecake and raspberry pistachio traybake passed around for comparison. By the end of the afternoon, the clear favourite was the pineapple and coconut chocolate roll, which disappeared from the plates particularly quickly.
