VE Day at Avon Cliff

In commemoration of VE Day, we decided to take full advantage of our patriotic decorations left over from our Coronation celebrations and continue the party.

We started the morning with a reminiscence session about our memories of the war and more specifically the time after it ended. We heard tales of fathers returning from war, slowly coming away from rationing and parties in the street.

In the afternoon we decided to get nostalgic and make an old wartime favourite, spam fritters. We loved trying this deep-fried treat again and for many it brought back many memories including that some of us didn’t like spam very much!

There was even an appearance from a Land Girl and a Spiv on the day which sparked a lot of conversations of jobs, styles and people gone by.
