Avon Reach go the extra mile for Macmillan Caring Locally

Avon Reach Care Home proudly took part in the recent Wishing Well Walk, a community event organised by the Rotary Clubs of Highcliffe and Christchurch in support of the local charity, Macmillan Caring Locally.

The scenic walk began at The Cliffhanger in Highcliffe and led participants along the picturesque coastal path to the Wishing Well at Mudeford Quay and back.

Taking part in the walk were Avon Reach Customer Support Advisor (CSA) Lee Mussell, joined by his seven-year-old daughter Margot, and Tracy McCallum, CSA from sister home Kingfishers in New Milton.

In a show of true team spirit, Ruth Wildman, Home Manager at Avon Reach, Denise Marks, Companionship Team Leader, and Colten Companion Jo Egan set up a refreshment point along the route at a beach hut on Avon Beach.

They were joined by resident Shirley Somerton, who was delighted to be part of the event and greet passing walkers. Participants were treated to homemade cookies, baked by Avon Reach’s in-house chef, and bottles of water – a welcome boost for many on the trail.

The event brought together individuals and teams from across the community to raise vital funds for Macmillan Caring Locally, which supports people living with cancer and other life-limiting conditions in the area.

“It was a joy to be part of such a meaningful event and to support a truly fantastic charity,” said Lee. “We’re proud to represent Avon Reach and take part in something that brings people together for such a good cause.”
