Mayor joins residents for Avon Reach fundraising BBQ

9 June 2025

Residents, families and local dignitaries gathered at Avon Reach Care Home this weekend for a beach-themed barbecue in support of the Christchurch Community Partnership.

The event, held in the home’s gardens, raised an impressive £430 for the local charity, which supports isolated and vulnerable people in the Christchurch area.

Guests enjoyed a packed afternoon of entertainment and activities, including live music from Lisa Locarno, a tombola, and a fully stocked bar. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, with many residents joining in the festivities.

A highlight of the afternoon was a visit from the Mayor of Christchurch, Councillor Viv Charrett, and Reverend Sandra Prudom, CEO of Christchurch Community Partnership, who both spent time chatting with residents and staff.

Companionship Team Leader Denise Marks commented:

“It was a wonderful afternoon that brought together our residents, families and the wider community. The support for Christchurch Community Partnership means a great deal to us, and we’re proud to be able to contribute to their ongoing work.”

The home’s chefs served a traditional summer barbecue, followed by strawberries and cream – the perfect seasonal treat. The beach-themed decorations added a splash of fun to the setting and helped create a holiday atmosphere, despite the British summer weather.

The team at Avon Reach extended thanks to everyone who attended or donated, helping to make the event both enjoyable and impactful.
