Summer Fun Brings Residents and Schoolchildren Together at Avon Reach

9 July 2025

Avon Reach care home welcomed pupils from Somerford Primary School for a lively summer party that celebrated fun, friendship, and intergenerational connection.

Thirteen children spent the afternoon with residents enjoying a host of traditional party games, from pin the tail on the donkey and musical statues to skittles and pass the parcel.

The home’s chef prepared a classic party feast featuring sandwiches, sausage rolls, a vibrant fruit platter, homemade cakes, jelly and ice cream – a spread that was as popular with residents as it was with the children. Each child left with a summer-themed party bag as a thank you for their part in the day.

Denise, Companion Team Leader at Avon Reach, reflected on the event’s impact:

“Bringing different generations together like this creates such a special atmosphere. These kinds of shared experiences really lift everyone’s spirits and offer so much in terms of wellbeing and connection – not just for our residents, but for the children too.”

The team at Avon Reach already have plans to welcome Somerford Primary School back for a festive Christmas celebration later this year.
