Colten Hosts Halloween for the Community

30 October 2025

Halloween fun at our homes has featured pumpkin parties, ghostly games and spooky sounds.

In Lymington, residents at Colten Care’s dementia care home Linden House welcomed 20 pupils, aged six and seven, for a party.

The young visitors, from nearby Lymington Infant School, met their hosts in the home’s top-floor conservatory garden room.

Together they enjoyed pumpkin carving, dancing, dressing up and making Halloween-themed decorations.

Resident Megan said: “It was lovely to see the children having so much fun. It took me back to when mine were little.”

Megan’s comment was echoed by fellow resident Jane who described her time with the children as ‘fabulous’.

Rounding off the visit was an opportunity to enjoy Halloween cupcakes specially made by Linden House chefs.

The home’s Companionship Team Leader Sian said: “Our home came alive with noise, laughter and fun and our residents loved joining in. Such intergenerational engagement really helps to elevate people’s moods and provide cognitive and social stimulation.”

While Linden House residents entertained primary age pupils, there were even younger Halloween visitors at fellow Lymington care home Belmore Lodge.

Children from the Clockhouse Nursery in Pennington joined residents and families for a ‘Belmore Broomstick’ party featuring a fantasy dress parade, games, themed nibbles and a festive singalong.

Among other Colten Care homes, in Dorset, Amberwood House in Ferndown hosted a community Halloween disco, Brook View in West Moors welcomed a costumed ukulele band and The Aldbury in Poole was the setting for a ‘Halloween boogie’ with live music, fancy dress and nibbles.

There was also a ‘spellbinding’ magic show at Newstone House in Sturminster Newton given by Magic Circle member Alistair Brien.
