Dorset care home residents enjoy afternoon tea with the Mayor

Residents of a Dorset care home welcomed their local Mayor and Royal British Legion Chairman for an afternoon of conversation and memories inspired by VE Day.
Amberwood House in Ferndown was the setting for a visit by the town’s Mayor, Councillor Terry Cordery, and Paul England, Chairman of the Royal British Legion’s Ferndown branch.
The pair spent time chatting with residents including Margery Hayes, Edna Stone and Mary Whitehouse along with Home Manager Diane Nicholls and colleagues.

It was one of a number of community visits and activities Amberwood House staged over several days to mark the VE Day anniversary.
Resident Mary said: “I was so pleased to meet and share a cup of tea with the Mayor. It was lovely to have a chat.”
Manager Diane said: “Our residents appreciated the opportunity to welcome community visitors. When they spoke with Paul and the Mayor, there were many memories shared on all sides. It was a real prompt for conversation.”
