The Aldbury Tunes Into ‘The Summer Of Love’

The sights and sounds of the Sixties were back in vogue for an afternoon as a dedicated dementia care home in Dorset partied on a summer-of-love theme.
Residents, families, friends and team members at Colten Care’s The Aldbury in Poole entered the spirit of peace, love and flower power by donning colourful hippy-style fashions.

Among the partygoers was Home Manager Martin Corrigan, resplendent in a tie-dye T-shirt, jean shorts and floral headband.
He agreed to be placed in ‘the stocks’ and have wet sponges thrown at him for fun while guests also enjoyed a visiting ‘bubbleologist’, Squidge & Pop, and created an array of shapes out of balloons.

One resident, Linda, said: “A great afternoon was had by all. It reminded me of old times, like dancing at a school disco.”
Sue Miles, The Aldbury’s Companionship Team Leader, said: “We all love dressing up and it was fabulous to spend a day stepping back to the Sixties and the summer of love. Judging by the fashions on show it was certainly a colourful era.”
