A Cosy Visit to the Mayfly Pub

One of our favourite destinations is the Mayfly Pub near Stockbridge, where residents often pause for coffee or a drink while enjoying the tranquil River Test.

Today, the cold weather meant a cosy lunch inside by a roaring log fire rather than riverside seating.

Barry and Alan had been eagerly anticipating the visit, particularly sampling the fresh local trout and beer-battered haddock, followed by classic desserts such as apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding.

The afternoon was filled with relaxed conversation, laughter, and the comforting atmosphere of a traditional English pub. As Barry reflected, “I’ve been really looking forward to this trip, and it was certainly worth the wait.” A memorable outing blending good food, company, and scenic views.
