A Visit to Stewarts Garden Centre

This week’s minibus trip took residents to Stewarts Garden Centre in Christchurch — a favourite destination for its tranquil surroundings, seasonal blooms, and of course, its café.
Enid and Ronnie were among those who made the most of the visit. Enid was delighted by what she described as “the biggest slice of cake I’ve ever seen” — convinced she couldn’t possibly finish it, but very pleased to report that she did, and “enjoyed every bit.” Ronnie was equally impressed with his lemon drizzle cake, choosing to take half home for later — though he assured us he’d be keeping that indulgence to himself!
Afterwards, residents explored the gardens and gift areas, pausing to admire the colourful displays and the impressive carp in the pond. Ronnie was particularly taken with them, joking that he’d bring a bigger box next time so he could take one home.
Outings like these are more than just a change of scenery — they’re a chance to connect with the community, enjoy familiar pleasures, and share good conversation. And, naturally, a good slice of cake.
