Abbotts Barton Bake Off

This afternoon, we invited our residents to join us in the Abbotts Barton Bake Off tent for what turned out to be a very fierce and spirited competition.

Each resident was set up with their own workstation and the tools to decorate a cake with piped icing, fondant shapes, and decorations. The stop clock was set giving them only 5 minutes to present a perfectly decorated cake.

Once the residents had proved their worth, the carers and nurses were asked to go through the same process but this time only given 4 minutes to express their creativity.

Each cake was presented to the judges, Chefs Chelsea and Mutu. The identity of the competitor was hidden from the judges and they were asked to select a winner from the resident category and staff category.

Julia Burman said “That was a fantastic afternoon. We had so much fun and laughter.”

Carole Harper added “I didn’t expect to win. That was a real boost to my day.”
