Celebrating 100 Years of Cynthia

5 October 2024

President of the Royal British Legion in Ferndown and Amberwood resident, Cynthia, celebrated a big birthday in a big way!

After having her hair done by our hairdresser, Sue, and her nails painted by Companion Kirsty, she was ready to put on her new outfit and make her way to the party. All the staff gathered to wish her a fantastic party and as she left Amberwood House she was surprised with a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce! The smile on her face expressed to us how touched she was.

Friends, family, and members of the Legion greeted her as she arrived at the party. A beautiful, personalised cake had been created with references to all her favourite things and even the Mayor arrived to give a speech. Cynthia spent the whole afternoon celebrating before returning to Amberwood House to share stories of the day.

After a good nights’ sleep, it was time to celebrate again with her friends at Amberwood House. Her rollator was decorated with a big balloon and all the staff and residents gathered to sing Happy Birthday with three cheers for 100 years!

Our chef had created a huge cake, and we all enjoyed tucking in whilst reading some of the cards she had received. We think Cynthia would agree that she had a fabulous weekend celebrating!
