Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!
It was National Beach Day, and while some of our residents enjoyed a trip along the coast, others preferred the comfort of home, so we brought the beach to them.
First up, Mr Punch and his wife Judy visited to perform for us. Their show, a well-loved feature of seaside trips, had everyone entertained. Margery was full of laughter as she remembered watching the puppets as a child.
We enjoyed a fish and chip lunch and then jumped straight into the best sandcastle building competition. Tips were shared between John, Pam, Pat, and Maureen, but John’s castle had the perfect points and the most striking details. His win earned him the first pick of the ice creams. While John was busy choosing his ice cream, Pat made sure his castle was flattened with one swoop of the spade, which got us all laughing.
We all stopped for a break to enjoy mint choc chip, toffee, chocolate, and mocha ice creams, complete with sauce, sprinkles, and a chocolate flake.
We spent the rest of the afternoon blowing bubbles, enjoying the sunshine, and listening to the Beach Boys. We will certainly sleep well tonight
