Bourne View Brings the Spirit of Aloha to Poole with Hawaiian-Themed Summer BBQ

18 August 2025

Bourne View care home in Poole welcomed residents, families, and friends for a vibrant Hawaiian-themed summer BBQ on Saturday 16 August, raising more than £250 for a local charity.

The home’s garden was transformed into a tropical setting for the occasion, with staff serving colourful cocktails alongside a traditional BBQ spread. Guests enjoyed live entertainment from ukulele band The Ukes, whose uplifting performance brought plenty of singing and smiles.

A highlight of the afternoon was a visit from the “Grumpy Grandads” scooter club, who proudly displayed their sparkling Lambrettas for residents and visitors to admire.

Members of the local Men’s Shed also came along to join in the celebrations, and the event even welcomed back former short-stay residents who returned to reconnect with old friends.

Home Manager Jacky said: “Events like these are so important to our residents, not just for the fun and entertainment, but for the connections they help us maintain with families, friends, and the wider community. It was wonderful to see so many people come together, and raising money for a local cause was the perfect bonus.”

Organisers described the day as a huge success, with residents praising both the food and the lively, welcoming atmosphere.
