Bourne View Celebrates National Ice Cream Day

Residents at Bourne View marked National Ice Cream Day with a nostalgic visit from Mickey’s Ice Cream Van, bringing a classic taste of summer to the home.

Swapping their usual lunchtime desserts for traditional ice cream, residents enjoyed choosing their favourite flavours as the Bourne View team helped serve everyone from the comfort of the home. The visit created a cheerful atmosphere, with residents and staff sharing stories, laughter and plenty of smiles over their frozen treats.

For many, the afternoon prompted fond memories of seaside holidays and family outings, with the familiar sight of the ice cream van and the taste of a traditional 99 Flake transporting residents back to summers gone by.

Resident June said: “I had such a lovely time. Everyone was enjoying their ice creams – what a lovely surprise!”

Fellow resident Janet added: “I haven’t had a 99 Flake in so long. It reminded me of the seaside when I was young.”

Companionship Team Leader Natasha said: “National Ice Cream Day was a lovely opportunity to bring everyone together through a simple pleasure that means so much to so many people. It was wonderful to hear residents sharing happy memories while enjoying a traditional ice cream, and to see staff joining in to make the afternoon even more sociable.”
