Book-Lovers’ Tea

11 June 2024

This week we held a ‘Book Lovers’ afternoon tea in our Canopy Café, where Victoria Sturgess from Wimborne’s Black Pug Bookshop came to share her experiences with us.

Firstly, talking about her work for thirty years in television, then describing her change of pace and relocation to Wimborne, Victoria showed how her passion for collecting books enabled her to realise another ambition, to own a bookshop.

We were all fascinated, and many residents asked questions which she happily answered as we tucked into cucumber sandwiches and delicious homemade scones with fresh cream and jam!

We had previously talked about everyone’s literary interests their favourite genre, and Victoria brought some relevant books with her for residents to browse through during the afternoon.  Muriel showed Victoria the dual language book she is currently reading and Wendy enjoyed the opportunity to see Victoria again, and thank her for her previous good advice and kindness.

All together it was a brilliant afternoon with a fascinating talk, a proper English Afternoon Tea and smiles all round. We look forward to welcoming Victoria back later in the year.
