Celebrating With a Song or Two
Today, we celebrated ‘Black History’ month during our ‘songs after lunch’ gathering, singing beloved songs originally recorded by famous black artists from the 1950s and 60s.
As we immersed ourselves in the tunes and explored photos from that era, there was no shortage of laughter and cherished reminiscences.
We paid homage to legendary artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, and many others. Surprisingly, the highlight of the afternoon turned out to be a popular song recorded by Harry Belafonte: “There’s a Hole in My Bucket.” We divided into two groups, and the ever-patient Liza’s playfully responded with mock-frustration to the Henries’ inability to get the job done, creating an atmosphere filled with humour and uplifting spirits. An afternoon enjoyed by all!
